Firebuy is pleased to announce that DFRMO with almost 2000 firefighters has decided toadopt the ICP on a fully managed 15 year contract. This decision builds on the gathering momentum and interest shown by Fire and Rescue Services across the country and follows on from the decision by Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue to adopt ICP on a purchase only basis.
Contracts were signed on the 2nd June 2009 during a ceremony held at DFRMO's Defence Fire Training & Development Centre at Manston, Kent marking the end of several months negotiations between Firebuy, DFRMO and Bristol Uniforms.
The contracts were subject to scrutiny by the commercial department of the MOD and it was pleasing to note that in their opinion the contracts although complex offered a robust and thorough way forward through partnering with Bristol Uniforms and Firebuy to deliver a managed service.
It was recognised that through the contracts not only would DFRMO’s firefighters benefit from using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) selected from the results of most intensive, thorough and robust testing and evaluation regime, but DFRMO as an organisation would benefit from commercial and financial risk being kept to an absolute minimum. This was an important consideration in these volatile commercial times with ongoing exchange rate fluctuations.
The PPE is expected to be delivered on an accelerated programme and to be in service by January 2010 – an extremely tight timetable but one that Bristol Uniforms are confident that with their expertise and resources can be met. Firebuy’s contract management role and knowledge of the contracts has already proven to be a real assistance in ensuring that the diverse needs of DFRMO can be met and that a real partnership between all three parties is in place going forwards. |
